My name is Calin Zainea, I am a mostly self-taught emerging artist, living in Montreal. I started drawing in August 2024, mostly as an outlet to grief. Early on I worked mostly on graphite, with some exceptions being ink, for the Inktober 2024, Inktober 2025 and Inktober52 challenges, as well as some coloured pencil art. I am currently drawing more in charcoal, and I am immersing myself in acrylic painting, with a focus on Grisaille techniques. My journey is a journey of self-discovery, and of healing, and I am trying to show that through my art. I found help through art and I wish to show the world that they can too.

Je m’appelle Calin Zainea, je suis un artiste émergent, essentiellement autodidacte, qui vit à Montréal. J’ai commencé à dessiner en août 2024, principalement pour exprimer mon chagrin. Au début, je travaillais surtout au graphite, à quelques exceptions près comme l’encre, pour les défis Inktober 2024, Inktober 2025 et Inktober52, ainsi que quelques dessins au crayon de couleur. Actuellement, je dessine davantage au fusain et je me consacre à la peinture acrylique, en m’intéressant particulièrement aux techniques de la grisaille. Mon parcours est un cheminement vers la découverte de moi-même et vers la guérison, et j’essaie de le montrer à travers mon art. J’ai trouvé du réconfort dans l’art et je souhaite montrer au monde entier qu’il en est de même pour tout le monde.
